Pinotage  Vine

Created for the Champagne Gallery at Ellerman House, the Vine is a 6 meter bronze casting of South Africa’s signature varietal, Pinotage, which undulates across and around the walls of an alcove in the gallery. Except for the right side of the vine that has been extended in order to follow the contour of the wall against which it has been installed, the sculpture accurately reflects the stock from which is was cast.

Conceptualized by artists Rina Stutzer and Angus Taylor, who designed the space, Nic's interpretation of the brief has manifested in a remarkable piece which binds the space of the Champagne Gallery and provides a talking point for those who sit beneath the Vine's intricate root system.
